Christmas is special for many reasons. Not only for the fact that it only comes around once a year, but also for the fact that Christmas symbolizes a time of joy and togetherness. Christmas is the time of the year where you are to reflect on yourself and do something nice for someone else. Most of all Christmas is a time for family and unity, which was shown by the Cratchit family. In “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, the theme of family is used to promote his lessons about Christmas and what is really important. The book revolves around an old businessman named Scrooge who lives alone and is extremely unpleasant. The Cratchit family. The spirit showed that even though they didn’t have a lot, they were still thankful for everything they had and that they were all together. Scrooge found it very hard to understand how a family can have so little but be so happy, but that is exactly what the spirit was trying to show Scrooge, that it wasn’t about having a lot food, or money etc. The spirit was trying to show Scrooge that it doesn’t take a lot of material objects to be thankful at Christmas time. This is something that many people still don’t understand, even nowadays.
