Lady Macbeth develops into a woman with authoritative characteristics and changes herself to only think about getting her ambition to become successful. Lady Macbeth informs Macbeth about making him do the necessary steps to make her plans successful. Lady Macbeth orders Macbeth to, “wash this filthy witness from your hand./ Why did you bring these daggers from the place?/ They must lie there: go carry them; and smear/ The sleepy grooms with blood.” (Shakespeare 2.2.44-47). Lady Macbeth gives Macbeth the orders, and Macbeth follows her orders. She tells him the necessary steps to make sure that they do not get blame for the crime they committed. She just cares about accomplishing her ambition and nothing else. Lady Macbeth illustrates herself as a woman with manly characteristics by making the necessary plans. Lady Macbeth states, “These deeds must not be thought/ After these ways” (Shakespeare 1.2.31-32). Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth that he should not think about the crime he had done. She as a woman is ready to forget that she had ever made a plan about killing Duncan, and told Macbeth to kill Duncan. Even though she is a woman she tells Macbeth to forget about his crime. She controls Macbeth and makes him do what she tells him to do. According to Sadowski Lady Macbeth, “as a woman [she is] more manly in character than her husband” (Sadowski 9). Lady Macbeth does all the planning which is suppose to be done by Macbeth. She does not let her husband make the decisions, she herself makes the decisions. She makes the plans and tells Macbeth to execute her plans. Lady Macbeth guides Macbeth by giving him the signals that are necessary for her plan to be victorious. Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth, “Give me the daggers: the sleeping and the dead/ Are but as pictures: ‘tis the eye of childhood/ That fears a painted
