Magic is an amazing and mysterious power that has impressed numerous people in the world for years. It is shown as a powerful yet unpredictable energy that has the ability to create or disrupt harmony, making magic something problematic if used wrongly. In the play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream written by William Shakespeare, the characters use magic for various purposes, sometimes with consequences that were not seen during that time period. This misunderstanding and misuse of magic leads to consequences that were not intended to happen. Instead of applying the love potion to Demetrius, who was the main target, Puck mistakenly applies it to Lysander. As a product of this, Lysander’s feelings for Hermia change significantly, and he falls in love with Helena instead. This causes confusion, heart break, and trouble among the characters.
