In the novel, "Flight" The author Sherman Alexie put in the eyes of Zits, A native American teenager, who is a troubled, rebellious orphan trouble maker. Zits life has been a rough one. His father left him and his mother at birth. then His mother dies 6 years later from cancer. Has been to multiples foster homes due to abusing foster parents or his self-acting out. zits after getting arrest and being sent to a junvile detention center after running out of his foster parent's house. zits Meet a white young man named Justice who introduce Zits to a new way of thinking and the idea of committing random acts of violence. when one of these acts is to shoot up a crowded bank in a belief that will return Zits dead parents. In "flight" Alexie Sherman's points the idea of violence. That violence can change a person mentally and how they react and their actions. In chapter nine where Zits embodies a small mute American child, he witnesses The Battle Of Little Bighorn or referred as Custer's Last Stand. zits watch the violent killing and bloodshed between his Indians ancestors and Custer's soldiers. After the battle is over. Zits watches and reflected on the vulgar and degrading acts his Native American ancestors did to deceased soldiers bodies. In Particular chapter nine, page twenty-three, we can zits watch a young girl around the age of ten, pull out the eyes of one of the dead soldiers as a way of dishorning the dead. which shocks zits that a child that age will do something so vulgar and he tries to push the child away from the body. My Evidence supports that violence changes a person and make them even violent themselves. As we can see by this young child, children are supposed to sweet and innocent. But due to watching the violent killing and slaughter of her people. It has made this girl build up hatred and revenge for her people who lost their lives to these soldiers. This rare thing to see in native Americans as they have a much respect for the dead in their culture
