This story has a lot to do with friendship. The two main characters, George and Lennie are migrant workers who travel together as a pact. George is a small slim guy but Lennie is a big tall guy. They are going to a new ranch where they wish to work. As they are going on their journey they come across many challenges. As George and Lennie traveled together George was usually the guide and he guided Lennie. “Well, look. Lennie- if you jus’ happen to get in trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here an’ hide in a bush”(Steinbeck 16). During this time George and Lennie are on their journey going to the new ranch and George is explaining to Lennie what to do if he gets in trouble. When you have a friend like Lennie you constantly have to worry about him. You don’t know what trouble Lennie will get into because he doesn’t mean to get into trouble.
