The 3 characters that express the theme of loneliness in the novella are Curley’s wife, Crooks, and Candy. Have you ever thought loneliness could lead to isolation? John Steinback writes in The book Mice Of Men Themes that focus mostly on isolation and loneliness because in his book it focuses on the time when the stock market crashed and during that time people had to find jobs and make money and it was hard. So it makes a lot of sense why the theme of loneliness and isolation is in this book.

In the book of Mice And Men the theme of loneliness plays a major role in the book and there’s 3 characters that relate to this theme, For example Curley’s wife. Curley’s wife quotes “i get lonely, you can talk to people, but I can't talk to people but curley”. This quote makes a lot of sense because Curley’s wife met Curley at riverside dance palace and after accusing her mother of throwing a note in the trash and she only dated curley to get out of the house. I'd say he’s the most lonely person since he was separated from a lot of people on the ranch. For example in chapter 4 Lennie comes into crooks room just looking for his puppy and crooks quote “well, i got a right to have a light. You go on to get outta my room. I ain’t wanted in the bunk house, and you ain’t wanted in my room”. This quote from the chapter really gives you more information about crooks being lonely because in the book he wasn’t able to sleep in the bunk house because of his skin color and he cant play cards with the workers because they said he’s black and stinks.
