The Tempest written by William Shakespeare is a play that has been transformed into a movie which is directed by Julie Taymor that takes place during shakespeare 's time period. The movie version is very dramatic. One scene in particular is when Gonzalo, Alonso, Sebastian, and Antonio are frightened by a harpy shaped Ariel. This scene can be located in (3.3.25-133).In this scene the use of different camera angles and lighting makes the audience feel as though they are within the scene viewing everything from their own perspective. It is of importance to make the audience feel as though they are one with the scene. Camera angles provide us with information about the character, such as level of power. For example within the scene there are different camera angles in which one shows a high angle towards Ariel who is dressed as a harpi .
