La Glacon 08 is a garment that can be argued as a piece of artwork. It holds the essential aesthetics that make for a captivating piece. These essentials entitle having an hourglass form, having a consistent color pallet such as various shades of grey, and pulling styles from different time periods. What Tex Savario has infused into La Glacon 08 resembles the works of brilliant and creative minds, that of John Galliano, and Christian Dior. Like Galliano, Savario produced a heavily ornamented gown and like Dior used a romantic inspiration for La Glacon 08. However, Savario stands out with his incorporated styling of the 19th century using a bustle to add to the grand aesthetic that he as a designer appreciates. Additionally, Tex Savario applied the same ideologies to La Glacon 08 as William Morris applied to The Ideal Book. Morris wrote “I suppose we are to understand a book not limited be commercial exigencies of price: we can do what we like with it, according to what its nature, as a book, demands art” (66). I feel as though Saverio takes this main idea and applies it to this garment. La Glacon 08 is enriched with many of the principles Morris had with the Ideal book. The lavish and beautiful nature of the product it was truly matters. Savaro thought about this design in both a holistic way, and in a linear progression.
