Through Another’s Eyes As an American from the Midwest, the image that comes to mind of life on a Caribbean island is of paradise and tranquility. It’s a place to escape and not have to deal with long winter months of snow and freezing temperatures. A place one could enjoy beautiful beaches, tropical trees and foliage year round. Everyone has their own perspective of things whether they’ve experienced it first hand or formed an opinion based on things they’ve formed based on resources or second hand information.
Together, these regional Mexican styles celebrate Mexico's rich cultural heritage and continue to captivate audiences worldwide with their authenticity and storytelling prowess. Reggaeton is a genre of urban music that originated in Puerto Rico in the late 1990s. It blends elements of reggae, dancehall, hip hop, and Latin American music styles like salsa and merengue. Characterized by its repetitive beat, catchy hooks, and rhythmic vocals, reggaeton quickly gained popularity throughout Latin America and the Caribbean before spreading globally.
Music most listened to are from British and African origins which include folk, western classical religions, and popular music. Food people eat is called bajan food a blend of British, African, and indian styles. Sports have been played in barbados ever since the 1800’s
There is a stark contrast between the rural Jamaican and the American perception of the ideal body in society. Jamaicans highly favor fat bodies, while Americans prefer the lean, lithe look. The major extreme comes when comparing women in both cultures. Jamaicans encourage young girls to eat and become fat and portray that as the most desirable. On the hand, in America, young girls are the most at risk for developing eating disorders.
This side of Nicaragua developed in relative isolation to the rest of the country and its music developed in this way as well. The folk music of the Atlantic lowlands, like the other two regions, does have strong indigenous influences, but it's European influences are from Britain, and it also has a strong Afro-caribbean influence that the rest of the country does not have as greatly. This side of the country came to be occupied mostly by indigenous tribes such as the Miskito and escaped slaves from the West Indies, was never concurred by Spain, and did large amounts of trade with the English, and all of this is reflected in its music. The songs are usually lively, intense, sensual, and frenzied. This style of music is best exemplified in what is called "Palo de Mayo" which is a festival, dance, and a musical styling.
In the documentary about hip hop culture affecting all aspects of American culture the one scene that stood out to me the most was when the young white male was driving down the street in his truck-playing hip hop music. This scene stood out to me because it reminded me a lot about myself being an avid hip hop fan in America. It made me think about how much hip-hop really has affected my own life. I use this music to escape from reality and learn more about the life of the artist that I am listening to. I think that listening about how some of these artists came from nothing and now they are so successful is so interesting.
Cuba is the largest Caribbean Island geographically and population-wise as well. Havana is the capital of Cuba and is only two hundred and twenty-eight miles from Miami, Florida. The island has a tropical climate which is perfect for farming. One-third of Cuba is full of mountains, and the other two-thirds are low plains which are used for agriculture. With a coastline of three thousand five hundred miles, Cuba has four hundred and thirty beaches.

Reggaeton music is from Jamaican Reggae, but it was influenced by other music directions, for example North American Hip-Hop and Puerto Rican rhythms. According to the articles"Panama is the birthplace of this music" it all started for the wave of immigration of Jamaicans who immigrated to Panama, to work in the Panama Canal. They bought their Reggae music and eventually it was translated to Spanish and was called "Spanish Reggae". Reggae was performed first time in Spanish it was in Panama (by Chicho Man), while the first Spanish rap was performed (by Vico C) a singer from Puerto Rico, who is consider one of the founders of reggaeton this all happened in 1985.
All over the world, we experience areas with densely populated cities. This is a problem because in some cases, the areas are unable to provide import export for cheap because it is in such high demand. The Caribbean is full of many regions or areas that have many diverse foods and cultures. Specifically, Haiti is an area full of import exports as it helps meeting the necessities and requirements of the people. There is no middle class, only a lower class and an upper class.

The Caribbean is a place where most of the countries share the history. It is a history that is deeply embedded with loss and struggle. Over the course of history, the Caribbean has been through a lot of stages from slavery, colonialism come right down to independence and post-independence. With slavery, the blacks were introduced, then we have the Europeans and of course the Indians came with the indenture ship program. Since the Caribbean has such a diverse array of cultures and ethnic groups, it is expected that these groups will leave their own impact on the society as a whole.
