In the movie Atlas Shrug, the United States government was acting more like a pure communist controlled economy more than a capitalist economy. Which of course led into economic problems throughout the land. The government stepped on the rights of the people of the United States, and many citizens had things to say about it. While pure capitalism is not the best form of the economy, neither is communism. Pure capitalism is not the best form of economic system because without laws and regulations many countries would fail, including the United States. One of the many reasons pure capitalism would not work is because of how the banks are ran by the Federal Reserve. Without having a central banking system running money throughout the country and setting regulations there is no way pure capitalism could work.

Likewise, in the movie Atlas Shrug, the government was controlling how the businesses must export their goods and how much they can produce. Because of these government restrictions on trade and how to spread their money, the economy declined tremendously. Another thing that made the United States a pure communist economy was the law that was passed on how many businesses you can own. This restricts Hank Rearden in his metal business because he owned a ore mine but then the government made him get rid of it. These countries usually struggles because of how the government treats the people and businesses cannot pay well. As a real life example, China used to be a pure communist country. Yet they still are communist, in the past few years the government has been making changes for the human rights there. Giving the people more opportunity for private businesses and producing
