Biography “Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.” This means that every time they throw a strike, he gets more determined to hit a home run. For example on Babe Ruth’s 60th home run (when he broke the record) he hit a home run on the very last pitch. This quote relates to my thesis because both of them mean that he had/gave hope and every time he steps out on the field he changes baseball. George Herman Ruth was an important figure in 1920’s American history because he gave millions of people hope during the Great Depression, saved baseball from the Black Sox Scandal, and he became known as the best player in Baseball American history.
The author showed this when Jackie went through name calling for the black players who come after him. Jackie is diligent. This shows when he goes to war. This essay will show that Jackie Robinson possesses the three qualities just mentioned.

The third reason why Jackie Robinson was so impactful was because his influence on African Americans. In the text it says "Robinson also became a vocal champion for African-American athletes, civil rights, and other social and political causes. In July 1949, he testified about discrimination before the House Un-American Activities Committee. In 1952, he publicly called out the Yankees as a racist organization for not having broken the color barrier five years after he began playing with the Dodgers" (biography.com). This quote shows how he courageously spoke out for all African American rights.
Jackie Robinson inspired many others to uplift them self above societal standards. Prior to Robinson’s success, no African American athlete had received similar praise from white America. “Jackie Robinson changed the way of how many white Americans thought about minorities because he was the first acknowledged black player to perform in the Major Leagues.” (Swaine 1) Jackie Robinson changed the way of how many white Americans viewed African Americans because he was the first acknowledged African American baseball player to succeed in the major leagues. Robinson showed the white Americans that they were not superior to his race and that they couldn 't keep him or people alike oppressed.

In this essay, I admire how the writer starts her introduction sentence with an observation on her subject. The writer’s thesis is wordy but strong, and outlines the rest of the essay. Instead of using an entire quote, the writer paraphrased or used two or three important words from the quote to support her idea. The writer also analyzed the author’s ideas instead of stating exactly what the author wrote. The writer did however, use one to two long quotes that she could have shortened or paraphrased.
