Markus Zusak writes about Liesel and the conflicts she experienced from 1939 through 1942. The conflicts Zusak described were accurate to what happened in the real world. Take, for example, in Zusak’s novel, he describes the conflict of the bombing in Munich, Germany, through Leisel’s perspective. This was a real event that happened in World II, which Zusak described perfectly in this scene of the novel. From Leisel’s perspective, the bombing was quite traumatic and scary for her. They all ran into hiding and tried their best to stay calm. When the bombing was over, they rose from the basement to see the horrible damage that had been done. This gave me a clear understanding of what happened and made me feel sorry for all of the people who had to deal with the bombings and World War II.
