Earl Lloyd and others Pioneering and integrating the NBA Before October 31, 1950. The 5 year old, newly formed, National basketball Association was only filled with the white race. Shocking the world, Earl Lloyd and two others (Chuck Cooper and Nat Clifton) signed contracts to the National Basketball Association. Pioneering and fighting racial segregation, these individuals change the NBA forever. Now the NBA is filled with 74.4 percent of African Americans.

Dr. Naismith never imagined nor was able to witness how popular and financially prosperous basketball would become. Not only do I play because of the competitiveness but it also gives me good exercise, increases your hand-eye coordination ability, and trains you to focus more. Basketball is a sport which requires a lot of focus. When I Play basketball, I have to focus on my surroundings, my teammates, weak points in their defense etc. Studies show that playing Basketball helps you focus more in school.
Dr. James Naismith created the game of basketball in 1891. He was a worker at the YMCA. It was created to condition young athletes during the cold months. He used peach baskets as the goals and a soccer ball as the ball. This sport evolved into the NBA (National Basketball Association) where many talented people play.
Dr. James Naismith is referred to worldwide as the innovator of ball. He was conceived in 1861 in Ramsay township, close Almonte, Ontario, Canada. The idea of ball was conceived from Naismith's school days in the range where he played a basic youngster's diversion known as duck-on-a-stone outside his one-room school building. The diversion included endeavoring to thump a "duck" off the highest point of a substantial rock by hurling another rock at it. Naismith went ahead to go to McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

I have heard the phrase " Ball is Life" but that isn't the case. Ball is definitely not life especially this past summer. Some of the parks I went to didn't have too many basketball players in them balling from sun up to sun down like how we used to do it. There are too many distractions for the youth, with social media and high tech, why go outside and play basketball or improve on your game??
