How has the healthcare technology landscape changed? Over the years, technology has been used in the healthcare sector for various purposes. Traditionally, healthcare technology included imaging technologies such as CT Scanning, X-rays, and Laboratory testing technologies among others. However, this has changed significantly over the years. Healthcare sectors are rapidly adopting integrated healthcare systems that involve the use of information systems to manage patient data and records, analyze and provide patient history and statistics, aide doctors and physicians to effectively interact with patients using scheduling systems, correlate the data from other sources such as scans and patient history to provide a better treatment. Most importantly, medical devices have been designed to help doctors in diagnosing and treating patients. The innovations of the IoT, for instance, has seen patient management change significantly since patients such as those who have diabetes are no longer required to visit the doctor for them to be checked. With the advancements in the wearable technologies, doctors can monitor their patients wherever they are remotely and advise them accordingly.
