1. The approach to the delivery and packaging of news has changed with the passage of time, and the shape of the media is quite different from the past and the now. What changed since 1965 in the world of media is that the role of each media platform has changed, some platforms are maybe even disappearing, and new platforms have come. The public has now the choice to hear, see and read the news immediately online, and by live broadcasting in TV. Newspapers have changed their role of news reporting to talking about the news, giving editorials and opinions, and deeper explorations of the subjects already covered by other, faster media. Convergence of the media, multitasking journalism, live reportage and the speed of the media coverage brought the world in the situation where the news and information are all around us. This is quite different from the situation almost a half century ago. When for example, one big thing happened at that time that affects the media and people, TV reporters report about the event was live and it gave pure, unfiltered news. There was no time for external mediation, and people were watching the event as it unfolded. Such a thing could have never happened at the time Galtung and Ruge were writing their criteria. At the time, TV as media was just at the beginning of its bright days, while the newspapers were still the most important news platform. Newspapers journalist had the time to reflect on the event and structure them in the way that is proper both for the public and for the name of the papers. There definitely still exists a connection between the criteria of news values from 1965 with today’s news creation. In a journalism context, the term can be defined as fairness of the news, not favoring one side. In order to achieve objectivity, a journalists needs to be accurate and truthful. Newsmen run the risk of being sued libel for any facts that are wrong or inaccurate, which can lead news organizations at financial risk as well as affecting the general news consumers’ preference to purchase the newspaper. Not only does this affects the newspapers reputation but also affects the newsroom routine, as staff members will have to appear in court. The newsmen need some working notion of objectivity to minimize the risk of imposed deadlines, libel suits and superior reprimands. To achieve this, Gaye Tuchman states “Newsmen cope with these pressures by emphasizing ‘objectivity’ arguing that dangers can be minimized with objective stories. They believed that if every reporter gathers and structures ‘facts’ in a detached, un-biased, impersonal manner, deadlines will be meet and libel suits avoided. The newsmen navigating between libel and absurdity by identifying objectivity with fact.” She also wrote “Newspapermen must be able to invoke some concept of objectivity in order to process facts about social
