Walmart is one of the largest retailers in the world. It is a company that produces cheap products to sell and operate in over 30 countries in different places of the world. More specifically, it has 380 retail stores in Canada that sell goods and groceries. They are proudly working with Canada to have a direct effect on its people, environment, the community and ethical sourcing. Depending on our point of view, Walmart has it own advantages and disadvantages for Canada. Furthermore, Walmart directly affects Canada in two aspects. First, the customer side and secondly the business or economical side. The consumer side is very sympathetic as its meets most of the needs and price ranges of the customers. This is the area in which Walmart has surpassed in, leading it to be one of the best distributors globally. However, its negative effect on our economic is as important as the customer side. In fact, Walmart destroys more jobs than it creates for the local people of a community. Walmart drives local competition away, when they first start in a new community they put local merchants out of business due to lack of customers. The price of goods offered by Walmart can never be beaten by local business holders which again steal the customers away. Furthermore, this will cause the lack of income to families which earn their money from owning a local business. Although, Walmart claims that it creates jobs, but most of them are part time jobs.
