Cell phones are used by an innumerable amount of people all over the world, all the time. They are used to communicate with others without physical contact. It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by a mobile phone operator allowing access to the public telephone network. Over the years, cell phones have changed in many ways along with the great remark it left us all.
To start off, cell phones originated when AM radios came out around 1922. Radios were the first technological devices to be used for communication. In 1865, a dentist named Dr. Mahlon Loomis was the first to communicate with a wireless telephone. In 1973, the first handheld mobile device was invented by Dr. Martin Cooper. Along with the mobile device, the first phone call was then made by the doctor. The first hand-held cell phone was demonstrated by John F. Mitchell and Dr. Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973. The headset weighed around 4.4 pounds. The 1983 DynaTAC 8000x was the first to be commercially available to purchase and use. From 1983 all the way to 2014, mobile phone subscriptions worldwide grew tremendously. Not everyone thinks the cell phone is the ‘greatest gift of all time’. No, some think that cell phones have corrupted the world. An american citizen Richard says Beddingfield “I can’t stand the infernal contraptions that everyone and their brother now blabs on while they’re in the grocery store, the movies, the mall, or even walking down the street or subway.” And it is just completely insane how cell phones have made such a huge impact in human lives. Although to Karen (from China) thinks “...a cell phone is necessary and important.” There are many people who agree with her as well.
