Is Andrew Jackson a friend or a foe to the Cherokee
Introduction (Thesis) While some may say that president Andrew Jackson was a friend to the Cherokee Indian tribe, he was actually a natural enemy. I think Andrew Jackson was an enemy because in Doc 1,4, and 5, it states many things that make him an enemy. Andrew Jackson did help the Cherokee Indian tribe, but they lost so many things they can’t reclaim. Andrew Jackson got more than what the Cherokee gained and the Cherokee lost many things while Andrew Jackson lost nothing.
Body 1 In doc 1 Andrew Jackson is trying to convince the United States Congress that moving the native americans will be beneficial to all. Andrew Jackson states that it will make the southwestern frontier stronger, which will help other states to repel invasions without help and it will separate Indian tribes from contact with whites. Andrew Jackson also has said some questabile things about the Cherokee, Has enabled them to pursue happiness in their own rude way or to cast off their savage habits. In the background of this doc it says that it would be beneficial to all but in this doc it only beneficial to the whites.

In the message he also uses the condition of the Creeks as a threat all so saying their men are committing depredations to the white citizens and they are making blood shed.
