How Is Atticus Finch A Good Father

Many people have different opinions of how a good father is. They say a good father always has time for their children and always teaches them new things. Also, they say a good father is the one who takes care of their children. There is a book called To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, this is a book that talks about challenges and struggles that characters go through. In this book, there is racism and many more problems that the characters face. Atticus Finch is the father of Scout and Jem. He is also a lawyer in Maycomb County and lives in Maycomb County. Atticus Finch is one of the main characters in the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Atticus is always judged on how his children behave and what they do. When Jem used Miss Maudie hat, she said to Atticus,”Atticus you’ll never raise em,”(77) and this was not the only time Atticus got that but when Francis and Scout were fighting, Francis shared this, “Grandma says it’s bad enough he lets all run wild,”(94).In reality the people in Maycomb do not see what Atticus is capable of doing for his children. This is because Atticus always has a way of encouraging his kids! A great example of this is in chapter 8 where it says, “But from now on I will never worry about what’ll become,”(76) He says to his son Jem because there was not enough snow to make a snowman, but Jem found a way of making a snowman out of dirt. This is an example of encouragement because this shows that Atticus believes that his son can do anything with his imagination because of how he made the snowman. This is also a sign of encouragement because this shows that Atticus believes in Jems capabilities in what he is able to do. Atticus is also a good father because of how he protects his children from danger. When the dog Tom Ribson ran around the neighborhood, there was only one man to stop him, and this man was Atticus
