To Kill A Mockingbird by the late Harper Lee is a very monumental book in classic American literature. It is filled with craft moves that support the goals that Lee makes the reader aware of throughout the story. To Kill A Mockingbird is about the struggles of dealing with a court case supporting a black man, Tom Robinson, through the eyes of a young girl, Scout Finch. Scout lives with her father Atticus in a small home in Maycomb County, Alabama. She goes through many internal struggles throughout the story that she learns to deal with.
Author: Maddie Cross Tom Robinson was a Black defendant. He was accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Which was not true, but since Tom was black they suddenly suspected he did it. Atticus Finch was an amazing lawyer that believed everyone has the right to give their side of the story. He had a lot of not very nice words to say because he was defending a black man.

Scout and Jem are the children of Atticus who is a lawyer of the town Maycomb. Dill comes every summer to come and visit his aunt. All three children always play and go on adventures together. Their first adventure is to visit Boo’s porch. Boo Radley is a tall scary man who got locked up in his basement for stabbing his father.

The main social injustice is the case of Tom Robinson, a black man accused of raping a white woman. Tom Robinson is wrongfully accused, however his word is meaningless compared to a white woman. After being targeted by a lynch mob and going on trial, Tom Robinson is eventually shot down after attempting to run for his life.

This book has nothing to do with mockingbirds; It is symbolism. The book has a well-known quote, “It's a sin to kill a mockingbird” (Lee 103). They show mockingbirds to be innocent meaning its a sin to kill something that is innocent, during this time a man named Tom Robinson is wrongly accused of rape but during this time it is a white man versus a black man and people are biased, so even though the man is innocent he is still punished. Tom Robinson is the mockingbird in the book.
