The Bildungsroman novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” narrated by Scout was set in 1933-1935 in a small town in the Southern States of the United States of America called Maycomb Country, Alabama. Harper Lee is the author of “To Kill a Mockingbird” and wrote the novel in 1933-1935 during the Great Depression and it was later published in 1960 during the peak of the Civil Rights Movement. When “To Kill a Mockingbird” was set in 1933-1935 was during the years of The Great Depression. One of the biggest issues in society during the time was racial discrimination against black people.
