Riley Holden Mr. Ioannidis English 10B 2nd Hour 02 March 2023 The Fallout of Marcus Brutus Brutus faces a major conflict between his loyalty with friends, and his country. Although he may have had a strong relationship with Caesar, his relationship with the citizens of Rome was way stronger. Brutus also possesses a fatal flaw of being easily manipulated. When he possesses this fatal flaw, he makes poor judgment that leads to his own destruction. Brutus is extremely naive. After he and the Conspirators killed Caesar, his downfall started. Brutus deserves the title of a Tragic Hero over Caesar because of his noble personality. Throughout the play, he had never deceived anyone. Brutus was manipulated into joining the conspiracy to kill Caesar. People began to pity him for being manipulated for something he was begged to do. Many people would say Caesar was the Tragic Hero because he also caused his own downfall, and he was the main character, however Caesar wasn’t untrustworthy towards his friends, Rome, and The People of Rome. Caesar was more innocent than Brutus, therefore Brutus deserves the title more. Caesar also wasn’t very noble. He was pretty self- centered and abused his powers. Even though there are several people who think Caesar deserves the title of a Tragic Hero over Brutus, there are many claims and reasons for why Brutus fits the description better. If we could go back and explain what a tragic hero is, I would want to know what the People of Rome think. They would know more than any of us, so they could give more details and reasonings. If Brutus wasn’t as naive as he was, or if he was as loyal to his friends as he was to Rome, I think Caesar would have fit the description more. However, that is not the
