Booker T. Washington and Harriet Jacobs are two black historical figure. Booker was born on April 5, 1856 and died on November 14,1915 and Harriet was born on February 11, 1813 and died in March 7, 1897. In the movie, we see Mrs. Ruffner helping Booker teaching him how to read, clean properly, and just essential stuff. She helped him to become the man he grows up to be. Harriet was taken by a family in the North in Philadelphia who helped her get to New York in September 1845. When she was in New York she was freed under its gradual abolition law. Harriet’s husband in my opinion didn’t seem to show much interest in their kids getting education which is one difference that I found. During Booker‘s time it was the end of the civil war, it was around the time slavery was abolished.. Harriet was an abolitionist who helped during the civil war and after the war. When they were both free they helped the Blacks. They both wanted Black people to be educated and wanted to help black people after Civil War. They both were authors who wrote books. Harriet wrote memoirs and newspaper while Booker did work like articles and books. They both will be remembered as someone who did a lot for the Black community and their legacies will continue
