Holden Caulfield is an extremely troubled individual with unparalleled depression. This all rooted from the slow and painful death of his younger brother, Allie Caulfield, to cancer at a young age. This has led him down a decreasing path in his life resulting in the expulsion of Holden from two boarding schools and the forming of an alcoholic addiction. After leaving his last boarding school, Pencey Prep, he went to New York where he went through a emotional rollercoaster. Overall his mental health is terrible and treatment is highly recommended with medication and therapy session's. Mr. Caulfield is depressed, confused, anxious, angry, thoughtful, kind, and a little bit horny who is trying to find his way in the world. After the death of his brother he had an emotional breakdown and psychically hurt himself causing deep abrasions to his hands from broken glass. Seen after he was kicked out of the next two boarding school's he attended. Barely being able to make true friends that he could ever count on. He was liked while at these schools but his depression kept him from being truly close to anyone. Another death in his life did not help with his friend committing suicide while wearing his clothes. These problems he is having are not normal and should be addressed immediately. I think that this advanced stage of depressions may have been worsened by his parents. Holden undoubtedly believes that he was abandoned by his parents by them sending him to boarding schools instead of bringing him home to confront his actually problems. Also the separation of him form the rest of his family for the most part has made him miss his brother more which has worsened his
