I believe the large group one belongs to have a lot of influence on your choices, and actions because it's in the human nature to be accepted and belong to something that makes us feel complete. In the Purple Hibiscus we can see that because Kambili comes from a Catholic household and her father who is an extreme religious Catholic man influences her thoughts, emotions, and actions in and out of her house. In the War Dance documentary these kids took so much pride in their Acholi tribe. They exceeded in trying to do their best and bring honor to their tribe by bringing a trophy. (Page 26) She always makes scenarios of her father approving saying I wish I had said that Papa would be proud of me. She still has the mentality of her father approving and the habit of doing everything the traditional Catholic way. In the War dance we hear three stories of three kids Nancy, Rose and Dominic they tell us their traumatizing sad stories about where they are coming from, and how these musical programs change their lives. We learn about their pride in being an Acholi. Wining is very important to them now and more than ever. They speak about trying to avoid messing up because they don't want to be remembered as the one that messes up and don’t want to deal with the shame of letting the tribe down. We can see that because there are so many connections in this school that every single student wants to bring pride and honor to their tribe by doing their best when performing. In the documentary we see that these kids practiced everyday to do their best and bring honor to their Acholi people. Besides the novel and the documentary we can see in others scenarios on how
