A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini uses an implausible character to show the way that Jaleel acted towards Mariam, he would say that he loved her and would always help her no matter what but at the end he would betray her as he didn’t stop his wives from marrying her to Rasheed, which would lead to Mariam having a rough life. This would show how Jaleel in this whole story was just a character that wasn’t around at all but affected the story overall. At the beginning of the story Jaleel was introduced as a very wealthy man and father of Mariam, he would visit her quite frequently and take her out to eat most of the time, and would state he loved her so much. This would show the pain and misfortune that Mariam would go through because of Jaleel, if he hadn’t suited her with Rasheed she would of been in good hands but now was with a man that mistreated her and didn’t even lover her. Later on she would also have more terrastro fic outcomes and would lead her to being stoned to death for killing her own husband to help out Laila escape the hands of Rasheed. The reader could understand that Mariam had a terrible life and didn’t experience life how she was supposed to, but this could've been prevented if Jaleel had stopped her from leaving.
