Martin Luther King, Jr. had a huge part in the American Civil Rights movement during the 1950s-1968. Martin Luther King lived during a time where black people had different privileges than white people. He chose to make a difference in the world about it. Not very many people in his time would be brave enough to express themselves the way he did. Because of his great determination, courage, and inspiration, his marches and speeches were successful in motivating people.
Martin Luther King was determined to continue his goal of peace and equality without attacking verbally or mentally. “He was famous for using non-violent resistance to overcome injustice, and he never got tired of trying to end segregation laws” (“Martin Luther King, Jr.”). King was determined to get the laws passed, so he tried to find positive and non-aggressive ways to make this happen. He got the people’s attention even more because he wasn’t being violent. Even though he had a lot of people against him, he had more people with him and that helped him be so successful. It was also his determination, courage, and inspiring thoughts that got him through it. It was not easy for King to accomplish his dream because of all the people threatening his life. That never stopped him though. He was always trying to get those against him to be on his side and see his point of view. King did a lot in his 39 years (more than most people).
