In Farewell to manzanar there are many characters, and many different events that happened over the course of 10 years or so, during (World War II) but one that stands out for many reasons is Papa wakatsuki (Jeanne’s Father). He Changed his ways, Acted different, and had a different relationship with his family, after the FBI accused him of Being and japanese spy.
At the Age of seven years old jeanne and her japanese american family of nine were forced to leave their home and sent to live, and survive at manzanar. This so called Manzanar place was an internment / relocation camp with up to ten thousand japanese american men and women. Also at Manzanar there was a School that jeanne and her best friend Radine, They developed a heavy relationship and always had each other's back. Also They had dance lessons or ( baton twirling ) together.

He (Papa Wakatsuki) was alway involved with his family and had plenty occasions where he spent quality time with his family.It was always hard because they were always in hardships, and getting sent to relocation camps. Papa wakatsuki was mostly happy about his relationships with his family. In the 1940’s Papa wakatsuki and his family were living in long beach california , Thirty Five and a half years earlier papa wakatsuki brought a japanese flag from hiroshima and burned it. Papa wakatsuki also burned any documents that might have connected him with the japanese. The reason Papa wakatsuki burned the japanese flag and burn all the documents is because he was worried Because he is a non certified - US citizen, But he did have a fishing license with one or two fishing
