It can connect people throughout the world creating friendships and pathways. Photography has the power to inspire many people. An inspiration that could lead to a change for the better. It’s also a visual learning tool that helps non-verbal people communicate. Photography is important because it opens a view into a person’s mind and allows them to convey messages. People would want to go back to when a photo was taken. Katie Mitchell has said, “These tiny images, sometimes only 3in x 1in, with their curled edges, are the only way of touching people in my past. Like many people, my family was broken up by time, events, places, and so on, and looking at these are a way of putting my past together”(O’Hagan). Mitchell, like many others throughout the world, want to preserve their memories. Having visual proof of that memory will bring her back to that time.
