Why is power so important? This is a question can be answered with examples from these two books that will show how power is very important. The first text that we read was Animal Farm which is about a farm rebellion against its owner and making the second text that was read was Mouseland which is a city of mice that is ran by cats. Both of these pieces of literature have a theme about the importance of power. Both Animal Farm and Mouseland use characterization in their text. The text Animal Farm uses characterization by trying to show how Napoleon is a controlling and an overall mean character. This can be seen in the text; “Napoleon, with the dogs following him, now mounted onto the raised portion of the floor where Major had previously stood” This is an example of how Napoleon has taken over the farm by just kicking the previous leader out.Just like Animal Farm, Mouseland uses characterization as well and it uses it by making the cats look like they only worry about themselves. The story Animal Farm uses a conflict to get to the climax of the story. This is seen in the part of this part of the story, “They were all slain on the spot. And so the tale of confessions and executions went on until there was a pile of corpses lying before Napoleon’s feet.” The text here is making it clear that the climax of the story is when the animals are starting to rebel against their previously set leader Napoleon and this makes him angry and kills these animals.
