How Is Schindler's List Historically Accurate

For the most part, Schindler’s List was historically accurate. This accuracy made the movie even more entertaining to watch and one can appreciate the true and heroic events that unfolded in the plot.

Schindler’s List was very historically accurate. In the opening scene, an annotation on the screen explains that in 1939, the German army quickly defeated the Polish army. The date of this incident holds true. In this same opening scene, we can clearly see how Jewish men in Poland had extremely distinguishable features and clothing. These features include curly side braids and extremely raggedy beards. This fact is very accurate as Jews in Poland had a very distinguishable culture, which made identifying one in Poland easier for Nazis. Another annotation says that March 20, …show more content…

This fact is pretty accurate as Hitler gave the order to move Jews into the ghettos in early 1940. Therefore, it would make sense if the deadline to meet this order would be around a year later. Also, the German troops were indeed forced to liquidate the ghetto in Krakow in 1943. The treatment of the Jews in the concentration camps was also very accurate. Jews would be randomly killed for random reasons. They were also malnourished and would receive checkups from Nazi doctors. What was interesting about the movie was that as the war progressed, Jews became more familiar with the Nazi gas chambers. While the Jews were still held in the concentration camp, some women discussed that the Nazis trick Jews into getting gassed, while claiming that they are only going to clean them. Toward the end of the war, when the women arrive at Auschwitz, Nazi soldiers tell them that they are going to clean them. The Jewish women crowd into a shower and it's obvious they fear for their lives. At that moment, they thought that they were going to be gassed because as time progressed during the war, Jews finally figured out the harsh reality of how many were tricked into being gassed. The actions of
