Have you ever read the novel To Kill A Mockingbird ? If you have, have you ever wondered who has changed the most ?In this essay I will talk about scout and how I think she has evolved the most in the novel. The character that has evolved the most in the book To Kill A Mockingbird is Scout. She has evolved the most because in the beginning of the book she would always get into fights and she used to not respect a lot of people.
First off Scout had an altercation with Cecil because she had said that her daddy defends niggers .For instance in chapter 9 Scout was about to fight Cecil because Cecil declares that “Scout’s Finch”s daddy defends nigger’s .” She defends her father from being called a nigger lover. When she goes home, she asks Atticus why people call him a nigger lover . Atticus tells her not to say that . She also ask’s if all lawyers defend Negroes and Atticus says of course they do . The next day she is ready to fight Cecil but she remembers what Atticus had said and walks away even after she gets called a coward. This quote shows that scout has evolved a lot throughout the book . This was one way she has shown growing up and being more mature. when she finally gets to meet boo she sees him shy and gentle . For Example , scout evolves because she now can put herself in boo Radley's shoes. She now understands how to see the importance of looking at things from the other person’s point of view very early in the story. Scout in the beginning of the novel was only about six years old and as most of the other kids in the neighborhood, she was suspicious of the Radley's but when it came to boo she was curious and frightened. In conclusion, this is another way to scout evolving throughout the novel . This shows the change in scout with boo Radley demonstrates that she has learned empathy . She no longer is scared of him, neither does she see him as a monster, but as a human who has suffered . She cares about him and understands that he cares about her too
