Mechanical hound is a dog like metal robot designed to kill thinkers and readers. Mechanical hound is made of steel and has a 4 inch needle, which has anesthetic which can kill a chicken, rat or a rabbit in three minutes. The purpose of the dog is to help the fireman, but in the novel, it is bound to kill and track the book readers. “The mechanical hound slept but did not sleep, lived but did not live” (Quote Fahrenheit 451 chapter 1 page 24). The machine has a calculator that can be set on the combination to find so much sulfur, so many alkynes… which can be used to track people down which oppose the government.
