George Orwell’s 1984 could be said to be a novel that is filled with numerous technologies that are used by the government of Oceania to control the people of the Oceania as well as to put them in Check. The first technology that is worthy of mention her is the Telescreen which the party and its faithful’s use to monitor the activities of the people. With the Telescreen he used, there is no privacy again in Oceania as all the secret actions and moves of the people will be captured and revealed through the Telescreen. The implication of this is that there is no hiding place again for anybody. The newspeak is a new language that tends to be used to brainwash the minds of the people in such a way that they speak only the language that the government wants them to speak. Such language of course is the void of words that can be used to express protest or resistance to oppressive actions. The effect of this new language on the people is purely negative. It makes the people to be passive and tolerant to the oppressive system of the Oceania government.
