In Midsummer Night's Dream Shakespeare is saying that love isn't always easy and some people might want to stop you from loving someone. But if that person is your true love you should pursue them no matter what. There are three main ways he shows this in the play. For example when Eqeus tells Hermia that she can't marry Lysander, but they get married anyway. Another example is when Demetrius doesn't love Helena but Demetrius is Helena's true love so she keeps on pursuing him and they end up together. The final example is when Titania and Bottom fall in love but it's not true love so they don't end up together. Those are the main examples that Shakespeare's uses to show what he thinks about love. Helena was called names and pushed away from her true love but she loved him so strongly that she would do whatever it takes to get Demetrius to love her. Finally after being through it all Demetrius finally realizes that Helena is his true love and they end up getting married. So all the work she did to get him to love her finally worked it wasn't easy but it worked. The final example is when puck put a spell on Titania to fall in love with what she first sees when she wakes up and when she woke up she saw bottom who had a donkeys head. Since neither of them truly loved each other the love didn't last it was false love. It wasn't true love because puck put the spell on Titania. So she didn't truly love bottom it was just the spell so the love ended. Theses examples show that love isn't always easy and some people might want to stop you from loving someone. But if that person is your true love you should pursue them no matter what. This is what Shakespeare wanted to tell us about love in Midsummer Night's Dream.
