In the novel, Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley, the protagonist, Victor Frankenstein has a desire for divine knowledge to the extent that he would disregard humanity. The minute Victor finalized his creation; he saw what kind of monster he has created. Critic Philip Allingham stated, “The fault is not the monster’s but his creator’s; the monster is sympathetic consciousness trapped in a repulsive form that even Victor, his mother-and-father, detests” (Allingham). Victor started feeling guilty, instead of taking matter into his own hands, he decided to fled the city and go home, hoping the creature he has created will not turn back on him.
