How did the D-Day Landings in Normandy in 1944 turn the tide against Germany during World War 2?

According to Source A, in 1944 the Allies were ready to dislodge Hitler from “Fortress Europe”. It was codenamed “Operation Overlord”. According to Source F, in the 1st. of June, 1944 D-day was fought to liberate the Western part of Europe from Nazi Germany’s control. D-day also known as the Normandy landings have been called the beginning of the end of war in Europe. According to Source D, the invasion of Normandy was the largest amphibious assault ever launched.
