Sumerian DBQ Surprisingly ancient civilizations have influenced this modern world starting at 3500 BC in what now day middle east ,the first of ancient civilizations began. Ancient Mesopotamia influenced in our world today in many ways. Two contributions from the Mesopotamian civilization were the inventions of cuneiform and Hammurabi’s Code.
Ancient Civilizations Egypt, Mesopotamia, and India are some of the early civilizations, that helped to shape the world as we know it. Each ancient civilization had many contributions to society. Some would include irrigation, grid like house system, and written languages. Ancient Egypt is one of the most common ancient civilizations. We all know them for the pyramid but that 's not all that they achieved.
We do not know where they actually came from. ➢ The Sumerians were very smart. They created many things to make their life easier and more comfortable to help their civilization grow. ➢ They developed many important aspects of human life such as the first written language, mathematics, astronomy, a calendar, and irrigation systems, As you can see the Sumerians from ancient Mesopotamia were extremely important in shaping modern civilization.

When it comes to advances I would say that the Egyptians have the Mesopotamians beat in the sense that they were able to invent more and have more things that other cultures were able to use in different eras. The Egyptians created the Papyrus, which is their version of paper. They used this when they were writing letters, stories and writing down their history. Mesopotamia used reeds as their writing tools and they wrote things down on clay that was soften and made into tablets. Although, the Mesopotamians wrote down stories that would later be translated into what is known today as the Hebrew writings that make up the Old Testament.
Mesopotamia was the first complex civilization to be developed. Civilizations have been well known by their means of subsistence, types of living, settlement forms, forms of government, economic systems, literacy, social stratification, and other cultural behaviors. Technology used in ancient civilizations not only contributed to the well being of people in that era but also the well being of the people of today. Achievements of the past have paved the way for achievements currently. The Code of Hammurabi created a model legal system for other countries to base their legal systems on. By creating a written language the Chinese improved communication and promoted unity. Sumerian accomplishments influenced weaponry/tools, writing and helped develop architecture.
Sumerian made many advancements that helped shape history. Their advancements did not only shape history, but it also impacted their society. Some advancements got them plenty of food to eat. That food helped the society by helping it grow. Other advancements helped Sumerians get from place to place.
Ancient Mesopotamia made many contributions to modern society. The contributions they made were over all aspects in life like technology, science, and mathematics. The contributions they made in their civilization made daily life easier. The contributions they achieved and now used in modern society. The Sumerians made outstanding contributions that we use today.
There were many civilizations that we built on; to make the modern world we have today. Of those civilizations, we have one that impacted us the most; the Mesopotamian civilization. In the Ancient world, Life began around rivers. Throughout this essay I will be comparing and contrasting two of the prominent ancient civilizations, the Egyptians and the Sumerians. They had many cultural and governmental differences between them. Below are some examples. To start, each civilization began next to a river(s).

In Shang, the Bronze is made to tools for agriculture , Bronze tools make the planting process more efficient, thus the civilization own more foods and goods for domestic trading. Same thing happened in Mesopotamia, people use bronze to make tools and produce more goods. Since the Mesopotamia people is better at international trading through ocean, bronze has a deeper significance for them, bronze helps the people to trade further into the ocean, it is believed that Mesopotamia people have traveled and traded to Britain and Afghanistan for resource with the help of the Bronze. Another major development in this period is the writing system, both of the two civilization own pretty completed writing system, but two writing system are believed to be invented for different purpose, Shang people develop the oracle for mainly political and the religious purpose, people and the king need record religious and political issues.
Ancient Egypt was the most advance civilization of antiquity. They had fairly advance Medicine, Architecture, Religion, and were also wise in philosophy. Greek culture learned a lot from Egypt, and they constantly referred to them and sought to find their ancestors in Egypt. The Nile was a fundamental element for the flourishing of the civilization of ancient Egypt, most of the population of cities were in the Nile valley and the Delta. The Nile was vital to Egyptian culture from the stone age.
