The Great Gatsby Have you ever watched someone or something change overtime? In the book F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote called The Great Gatsby, Three of the characters Tom, Nick, and Daisy all change over a short period of time. Through Nick moving to the big city and realizing how terrible and inconsiderate everyone truly is, Tom being caught up in his own world of cheating on his wife and his arrogancy, and Daisy being careless, and destroying everyone's lives in the process. Tom has changed throughout this book, he was living in his own little egotistic world which came crashing down. In the beginning Tom was organized, arrogant, rich, athletic, and loved cheating on his wife. Miss Baker stated on page 15 “Tom’s got some woman in New York.”. Tom has cheated on Daisy multiple times with other women, that ended when Mrs. Wilson died. Tom always want to be better than everyone else and was really arrogant. Like for example when he said this “just because I am stronger and more of a man than you are.” Toms demeanor changed after him mistress died, and Gatsby got daisy. He turned way more cruel and became more of a monster blaming the death, and Mrs. Wilson's affair on Gatsby. In the end Gatsby was shot by Mr. Wilson and he refused to the request to come to Gatsby’s wedding. …show more content…

Nick always saw the good in everyone, and thought everyone was good. As the story went on he figured out he was about the only honest person he knows. As he states here “I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known.” He became very close to Gatsby, and truthfully was Gatsby's only real friend. When Gatsby’s dad started talking to NIck they started talking about him and Gatsby’s father asked if they were friends and nick said “We were close friends.” After the funeral Nick was tired of the city, and wanted out of it.
