The movie "Schindler’s List,” directed by Steven Speilberg was released in 1993, and became known as a critically acclaimed film. This film was about how Oskar Schindler, a German man, helped to save Jewish men and women from being tortured and killed at concentration camps. He bought Jewish men and women from German soldiers with his own money, and at times he even bought them with diamonds. Oskar Schindler became a hero to the Jewish men and women because of his heroic act of bravery. He risked his entire life to help the Jewish men and women live. The entertainment value is measured by the US Box Office Receipts. Action and suspense help to keep us interested in the film, but so does the humor and the emotional aspect. Suspense occurred when the women that Schindler bought were mistakenly sent to Auschwitz, the worst concentration camp. The women were completely changed and their emotions were varied. Their hair was chopped like a little child had cut it, and it was cut short.The women were stripped of their clothing, and forced into a room filled with showers. The women were frantic with fear unsure of what was to come next. Many emotions were shown as the naked, vulnerable women were huddled together completely exposed. Suspense happened because the women had no idea what to expect. They just were in shock of what was happening to them. Throughout this scene suspense occurred because the audience had no clue if the women were going to be saved or if they were going to be killed. Action occurred when Goeth was in the basement with Helen because he seemed to like her. Goeth tended to act nervous around her, and like she had some sort of power over him. Goeth almost kissed her, which was shocking, but he caught himself, and blamed Helen. Goeth blamed her for the kiss when he was the one who was attempting to kiss her, but since he was a German, and Helen was a Jew of course she was the one who happened to be blamed. A man by the name of Oskar Schindler realized that what the Germans were doing to the Jewish people was wrong, and even though he was a German man himself, he decided to try to help save as many Jewish people as he could. He bribed German soldiers into letting him buy Jewish people with his own money. He saved many Jewish people from having to live in horrible concentration camps, and quite possibly death. Oskar Schindler was a hero to the Jewish people. The entertainment value has to do with keeping the audience interested in the film. It needs to entertain them with humor, action, suspense, emotions, and so much more to keep them hooked onto the movie. The intelligence value helps to make the film memorable by having strong characters and a message to help make the film better. The artistic value helps to perform special effects to make the film vivid, and also to grasp the attention of the audience. Overall, what helped to bring the movie "Schindler’s List" together was the entertainment value, the intelligence value, and the director's craft
