Contemplating ideas to make any changes to my community is a very difficult task. My community is one of the most supportive and considerate communities one could ever even dream being a part of. I am truly blessed to be living in such a noticeably beneficial environment. Moreover, attending Montour High School all throughout my life has shown me the great power of compassion and how rewarding kindness can really be. My presence in the community has shown me that the Montour community is special, and this has been proven time and time again. In Montour, accomplishing good deeds are a regular occurrence. However, the good samaritans only perform such deeds until they get the recognition for it. After the attention and recognition come to an end so does their kindness. In my opinion, recognition shouldn't be the driving cause for a good deed or kind gesture.
If I had the authority to change my community in a positive way, I would attempt to label kindness and good deeds as what is expected, rather than attention-seeking ploys. I find it especially irksome to see how my community as a whole only does anything for attention. This is wrong. I believe that people should do everything out of love and kindness, and be selfless. One of my favorite bible verses is 1 Corinthians 16:14, “Let all that you do be done in love.” This quote really embodies my message, and the manner in which, I believe, my community should carry themselves. The impression of the matter is people in my community often do kind things just for recognition. If I had the authority, I would ensure that they are carried out for long periods of time rather than once or twice. If I had the authority to change this about my community I
