In the end school shootings have been a big problem and over the years the government has done many things to protect us from deaths by firearms and school shootings. They have been making it harder and harder to obtain a firearm which is really what was necessary to do. Making it difficult to get a firearm into a school and knowing how to handle a school shooting situation will save lives if anything were to happen like that again. I feel gun control laws will get stricter and the schools and world will get safer.
And in every single one of these school shootings there have been fatalities and/or injuries to people. Oh no no no these aren't just people they are children, young minds, people who haven't experienced life, people that only got a sliver of what life could have been. By doing this not only insure safety it will give relief for parents all over the country. This tactic will give school staffs a chance to outnumber a possible shooter.
A simple way to stop school shootings in our district would be by eliminating all the factors that form a school shooter. Most school shooter suffered from bullying or had some sort of mental illness. In order to minimize the chance of a kid becoming a school shooter, we need to increase awareness.

Over the past few weeks, arming teachers has been a controversial topic throughout the country. School shootings have taken the lives of many over the past few years, yet they are becoming more and more frequent. In today’s society children shouldn’t have to go to school worried if they are going to be safe that day. If teachers are armed it will add that extra bit of protection to the children. A big question is if arming teachers is even going to matter if an active shooter happens to be in that school.
I believe the biggest misconception I had about school shooters is their feelings, or what I assumed is a lack of. What I have learned about the feelings of school shooters is that there is typically a guiding factor or initial issue that festers in someone. Said issue causes this person or group of people to act out. From what I have observed, these students typically have the brightest futures yet remain the most misunderstood of all students. Most of these students who carry out shootings killing themselves in the end, giving them a lifetime worth of attention they were clearly seeking without any repercussions for their actions.
Things we can do to stop Mass Shootings Time and time again you look at the news and see a new mass shooting and instead of addressing the issue and trying to stop future ones from happening. We just have arguments about guns and how if everyone was armed it would have been different. While the news does nothing but talk about the shooter and very little about the victims of the shooting. When a person commits a mass shooting it should be taken an act of terrorism as this is literally an act that is not only bringing terror to the citizens by it effects. Ultimately hurting and killing those around that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
School shootings are a reoccurring problem in the United States. As of 2018, there have been over 18 school shootings in America (Cuddy). However, this is nothing new to us. Every year they are countless reports of school shootings ending in injury or death. It should be obvious that schools are the safest place for parents to send their children during the day, the sad truth is, it is not.
Students today live their day-to-day lives in constant fear of what seems inevitable. The United States has one of the highests rates of school shootings in the world. Society has become so desensitized to these shootings that they are no longer shocked to hear about another school falling victim to it. Even when students take a stand against gun violence, the only solution offered to them is a proposition to arm teachers. However, bringing more guns into a school will only further deteriorate the situation.
Being safe at school is something that a person shouldn’t have to worry, about but it has become a concern for a lot of parents, teachers, and school administration. Increasing security in high school, middle school, and elementary school would help control and protect the kids from possible threats, as well as creating a safe learning environment and show kids that police officers are good people. Most middle and high schools nowadays have resource officers in the building or some sort of security within the school. In 2007 only 40% of schools in the country had a school resource officer on campus (James and McCallion 11). From a study done by The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice services, they reported that “‘an overwhelming majority of students and staff feel safe at school’ as a result of school resource officers (SROs) being present in school buildings” (Weiler and Cray).
Someone bursts through the school, into the cafeteria, the library, an auditorium, or even in a classroom. Every day the threat looms over us. Haunting us with its increasing numbers. We live in fear of a school shooter. And I will not stand for it.
