The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel written by American author S.Scott Fitzgerald and published in April 10 1925.Follows a cast of charcters living in the town of West Egg on Long Island in the summer of 1922.The story has the young millionaire Jay Gatsby and his passion and obsession for former Daisy Buchanan.Fitzgerald inspired by the parties he had while visiting Long Island began planning the novel in 1923.in his words "something new,something extraordinary and beautiful and simple and intricately patterned.

Nick Carraway,a young man from Minnesota moves to New York.He rents a house in West Egg district of Long Island.His next door neighbor a man named Jay Gatsby ,who lives in a mansion and throws parties every Saturday night.Nick has a cousin Daisy Buchanan. Nick eventually garners an invitation to one of Gatsby's parties. He encounters Jordan Baker at the party , and they meet Gatsby. Gatsby and Daisy start their connection.They start an affair.Daisy's husband Tom realizes that Gatsby is in love with her.

Tom and his group drive into New York City where he confronts Gatsby in a suit at the Plaza Hotel. When Tom and his group drive through the valley of ashes, they realize Gatsbys car has struck and killed Myrtle ,Toms lover.Daisy was driving the car but Gatsby took the blame.
