Book Report:

Esperanza rising was a very interesting book. The main character started off happy and rich then went into poverty, had to move from her home because of a fire, and had her mother get sick without her abuelita being there. She had also lost her father because of bandits. She has had a difficult time because of all of this horrible stuff happening to her. At first she was still a little bratty and thought she was still the best thing in the world; but as the story went on she noticed that not everything has to revolve around her. The author, Pam Muñoz Ryan did a good job on explaining what going from rich to poverty is , and showing how stressful migration is. The story takes place in the 1930s and in Mexico and America.

Esparanza, the main protagonist of the story. She is the daughter of a rich father who owns several different kinds of fruits on their large farm, el Rancho de las Rosas. Mama, is strong, confident, and brave. But after the dust storm, she became weak and because of all the horrible things happening she becomes depressed. Abuelita, is the grandmother of Esperanza. She teaches Esperanza that she can’t have everything easy in life. …show more content…
