The condition my brother holds has immensely grasped my interest and by studying the Masters of Optometry, I believe not only will I be able to explore the study of the eyes in greater depth but will essentially connect with people on a deeper level than in most professions. By studying the Masters programme at the University of Manchester, it will allow me to gain further clinical experience in a private practice for six months and at the eye hospital for another six months. This forms a solid foundation for me to experience both types of practice and deal with patients with a more complex condition. A patient with a simple refractive error would just not be referred to a hospital, which is why I want to deal with more complex issues such helping those with more severe conditions like Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Amblyopia, Strabismus and many more. …show more content…
I would also be involved in a low vision assessment clinic. This really motivates me because it will allow me to see patients who have not got very good vision and therefore my role would be to help them make the most of the vision they have left with the aid of magnifiers. This in itself is a gratifying role, and thus it fires my enthusiasm and passion even more to desperately undertake the Masters of Optometry course here in
