Child nutrition is a subject that I feel very passionate about. I truly believe that a child cannot function properly if they do not have adequate nutrition. I have seen many children, even in my limited experience in the child care field, who have not had sufficient nutrition and as a result have developmental delays. These delays can be physical, mental, cognitive, or a combination of several different delays. If parents had education on appropriate nutrition for their children, as well as the resources to feed their children properly, it is my belief that there would be fewer developmental delays in children from low-income families.

It is an organization was created by the Dairy Farmers of Canada and is operated by Ontario dietitians to promote healthy eating and lifestyle practices (Teach Nutrition, 2017). This program is designed to integrate healthy nutrition right into the classroom. It also provides ECEs and teachers with tools to communicate the importance of healthy nutrition to the parents of the children in their classroom. This includes bulletin board and newsletter clips that an educator can use to communicate the importance of nutrition with parents. The website is easy to navigate and resources are available to educators to teach healthy eating practices to their children. It provides resources that start right from where the food comes from and progresses to teach older children simple meal and snack preparation.
One thing that people need to understand is the effect that poor nutrition has on children. In The Importance of Healthy Eating for Canadian Children and Teens (n.d., p. 1), Community Food Centres of Canada (CFCC) it states that there are well documented effects of poor nutrition in children. These effects include; poor health, obesity, chronic health problems, trouble concentrating in school, and behavioural problems. These effects can last long past childhood, into
