Jessica Miller Final paper. Fargo, The Coen brothers. 1. Fargo,released March 8th 1996 is a dark humor crime thriller directed by the Coen brothers. The main actors in Fargo are Steve Buscemi, William H. Macy, Peter Stormare, Kristin Rudrud, Harve Presnell and Tony Denman. Fargo uses realism to show the story. I believe realism is what is portrayed because you believe you are watching a movie, and it doesn't seem like a documentary style film. Fargo tells a story of a car salesman, Jerry Lundegaard, from Minneapolis who is in an incredible amount of debt. Jerry is attempting to relieve the debt that he has accrued and thus hires two men to kidnap his wife Jean Lundergaard, the end result that Jerry is hoping for is a ransom being paid from his wife's father Wade, who is incredibly wealthy. The whole plan begins to fall apart after the kidnappers, who were trying to avoid any murder scenarios, kill a state trooper who is getting suspicious of the two men after he makes a routine traffic stop on their vehicle. After the murder, Marge the pregnant police officer, gets involved in the case, becomes very intrigued and ends up hot on the trail of the two kidnappers. …show more content…
In the second scene that i chose, Carl is waiting for Jerry to show up with the money for the ransom. Wade, Jean’s father shows up and Carl the kidnapper gets irate because that wasn't part of the plan. Carl pulls out a handgun and shoots Wade in the chest. Wade falls to the ground and then pulls out a handgun and shoots Carl, grazing his cheek. Carl infuriated at wade's attempt to kill him, pulls out his gun once more and fires off four more rounds killing Wade. This scene takes place at nighttime is an exterior setting in a parking lot. The style of editing in this scene is just a sequence shot. From start to finish of this scene the camera doesn't cut or change scenes it just continues to follow the progression of the altercation.
