While many people have their own beliefs regarding video games and the effects these games have on people’s brains, there is still much research needed to provide straightforward evidence. The media portrays both sides of the story. Some people view video games as harmful to the brain while others view it as a way of improving the brain. There are many opinions on the topic, but some experts feel that they are beginning to hone in on certain aspects of the effects video games play on the brain. Studies have indicated that “action” videos devised interactive gains, pictorial gains, and gains in judgment and skills (Bavelier & Green, 2011, p. 763). It is still unclear on the effects such games have on the brain, and many aspects must be considered for a constructive or unconstructive outcome to be determined.
