In today’s society, I can presuppose that many individuals choose their profession based on cultural and family influences to include educational background and salary. Plato once stated, "All things will know in superior quantity and quality, and with greater ease, when each man works at a single occupation, by his natural gifts, and at the right moment, without meddling with anything else." The professional culture helps shape the Soldier into the individual that they are destined to be. Also, the professional culture creates an atmosphere that enables Soldiers to become accustomed to their professional identity within the workplace as well as in their community. As a Human Resource Sergeant, the professional culture that we establish within the S1/G1 shop sets the tone for how we operate on a daily basis. The Army Values and Warrior Ethos is the base that we stand on as a foundation for what we hold true to. The Human Resource Sergeant’s role in the Army profession is to provide administrative support, provide command guidance, and assist with the Army Command programs. The HR Sergeant can balance multiple tasks and identify the strength and weaknesses within their unit's metrics. Secondly, as an HR profession, the individual must be able to be trusted to the handling of sensitive information such as personal and medical background to include personally identifiable information. Thirdly, the HR Sergeant's role is to provide excellent customer service to the Soldiers within their command. Also, this individual will ensure that they are continuously educating themselves by taking HR courses, leadership courses, and striving for assignments that will mentally challenge
