For processes that require dual sign-offs the following solutions are suggested: For In Process Inspections (IPI) and In-Process Secondary Production Acceptance Certification (PAC): Option 1: Place a quality plan on the operation that requires the IPI or PAC. The benefits are reduced work orders and reduced steps while capturing an approver’s name. The downside as mentioned in the problem description is “there are no restrictions, so the same person can sign off both blocks in the plan.” Option 2: At the route level, plan a separate operation for the secondary approval sequenced after the operation performing the work to be certified. the resource on this operation would not be the same as the resource on the operation that performed the work. This would be a separate resource that is able to complete the separate operation. The completion of the separate operation would serve as the inspection approval. If there is the need to capture additional information beyond the approver’s name, then a quality plan could be added to this operation to capture that additional detail. The …show more content…
The resource on this operation in the new route would not be the same as the resource on any of the operations that performed the work. This would be a separate resource that is able to complete the separate operation. The completion of the separate operation would serve as the inspection approval. If there is the need to capture additional information beyond the approver’s name, then a quality plan could be added to this operation to capture that additional detail. Once this additional operation and route are completed, then the approver can Sign-Off the Maintenance Requirement. The benefits are this option prevents the same person signing off in both places. The downside is additional work orders and added
